**![Singapore company registration has a fixed ACRA fee, while other setup costs depend on the services and requirements of the business.](https://jwc.com.sg/hs-fs/hubfs/Singapore%20SME%20director%20reviewing%20(10)-2.png?width=541&height=297&name=Singapore%20SME%20director%20reviewing%20(10)-2.png)**

[Thinking about setting up a company in Singapore?](https://jwc.com.sg/resources/how-to-successfully-incorporate-your-business-in-singapore) One of the first questions you will probably ask is: how much will it actually cost?

The answer is more nuanced than simply looking at the ACRA registration fee. The government filing fee for incorporating a company is straightforward, but your total setup cost can also depend on whether you need a registered office service, company secretary, nominee director, corporate service provider support, licences or other professional services.

For 2026, ACRA lists a S$15 fee to apply for a new business entity name and a S$300 fee to register a new business entity. That means the basic ACRA filing fees for a standard company registration start at S$315, before any optional or professional services are added.

The Basic ACRA Cost to Register a Company

If you are asking specifically about the government registration fee, the calculation is simple:

| ACRA transaction | Fee |
| --- | --- |
| Application for a new business entity name | S$15 |
| Registration of a new business entity | S$300 |
| Basic ACRA filing total | S$315 |

These are the official ACRA transaction fees listed for company registration. They do not represent the full cost of setting up every company because the business may need additional services or professional support depending on its circumstances.

So, Is S$315 All You Need to Pay?

Not necessarily. [S$315 covers the two core ACRA](https://jwc.com.sg/resources/why-your-business-needs-a-registered-office-address) transactions, but registering a company also means meeting certain structural and compliance requirements.

For example, a local company must have at least one director who meets Singapore's local residency rules. It must also have a company secretary, although the secretary can be appointed within six months after successful registration. A Singapore registered office address is also required.

Whether these requirements create additional costs depends on your situation. A Singapore-based founder may already have an eligible resident director and suitable address. A foreign founder may need additional professional support, such as nominee director arrangements or a registered office service.

The Main Costs to Budget For

When comparing Singapore incorporation costs, it is useful to separate mandatory government fees from recurring or situation-dependent business costs.

- ACRA name application: S$15.
- ACRA company registration: S$300.
- Company secretary: a professional service may be needed if you do not have a suitable person to appoint.
- Registered office address: a service may be useful if you do not have a suitable Singapore address that meets ACRA's requirements.
- Nominee director: potentially relevant for foreign founders who do not have a person who meets the local director requirement.
- Corporate service provider fees: relevant if you engage a CSP to handle incorporation, filings or other corporate services.
- Business licences and permits: applicable only to certain business activities.
- Corporate bank account and related services: costs depend on the bank and account arrangement.
- Ongoing accounting, tax and corporate secretarial services: these are not the same as the one-time incorporation fee and should be budgeted separately.
- Annual return filing with ACRA.
- Company secretarial administration and statutory records.
- Accounting and bookkeeping.
- Corporate tax compliance and filing.
- Payroll and CPF administration if you hire employees.
- GST registration and filing if the business becomes liable for GST.
- Audit or financial statement work where applicable.
- Business licences and renewals where applicable.

1\. Company Name Reservation: S$15

Before registering the company, you need to reserve the business name. ACRA currently lists the fee for applying for a new business entity name as S$15.

The name application is separate from the S$300 registration fee, so it is useful to include both when calculating the minimum government filing cost.

2\. Company Registration: S$300

Once the name has been approved and you are ready to incorporate, ACRA's current fee for registering a new business entity is S$300.

The registration process requires information such as the company details, registered office address, position holders and other incorporation information. A company constitution must also be submitted; ACRA provides a Model Constitution if you choose to adopt the applicable model rather than prepare your own.

3\. Company Secretary: A Recurring Cost to Consider

Every Singapore company must have at least one company secretary. The appointment must be made within six months of registration, and the position cannot remain vacant for more than six months.

The company secretary is responsible for important corporate administration and compliance work, including maintaining statutory records and supporting required filings. If you do not have an appropriate person internally, you may choose to engage a professional corporate secretarial service.

There is no single government-set price for a professional company secretary service. Provider fees vary depending on the scope of support, filing requirements and whether the service is bundled with other corporate services.

4\. Registered Office Address

A Singapore company needs a registered office address. ACRA states that this must be a Singapore address and must be open and accessible to the public during normal business hours on each business day. The registered office does not have to be the same location where the company actually conducts its business activities.

If you already have a suitable business premises, there may be no separate address-service cost. If you do not, a professional registered office service can be an additional expense.

A registered office can also be useful for founders who want to separate their business's statutory correspondence from their personal residential address. JWC has previously covered the role of registered office addresses and their compliance and privacy considerations. citeturn0search1

5\. Resident Director or Nominee Director Costs

One of the most important considerations for foreign founders is the local director requirement. A local company must have at least one director who meets Singapore's ordinary residency requirements. ACRA states that directors must be ordinarily resident and meet the other eligibility conditions. citeturn1search1

If you are a foreign entrepreneur and do not have an eligible resident director, you may need a nominee director arrangement through an appropriate corporate service provider. This is not an ACRA registration fee; it is a separate professional service and its cost varies by provider and circumstances.

This is one reason why a foreign founder's total incorporation budget can be materially different from the basic S$315 ACRA filing cost.

6\. Corporate Service Provider Fees

Some entrepreneurs choose to complete the incorporation process themselves through Bizfile. Others engage a corporate service provider (CSP) to manage incorporation and related corporate services.

If a business provides company formation, registered office services, nominee arrangements or certain filing services to customers as a business, ACRA's CSP framework applies. [ACRA](/resources/acra-red-letter-what-to-do]\(https://jwc.com.sg/resources/acra-red-letter-what-to-do) states that corporate service providers carrying out specified corporate services must be registered under the Corporate Service Providers Act 2024.

When comparing incorporation packages, check exactly what is included. A lower headline price may cover only the incorporation filing, while another package may include the company secretary, registered office address and other ongoing compliance support.

7\. Business Licences and Permits

Company registration does not automatically mean you have every approval needed to operate your business. Depending on the industry, you may need specific licences or permits after incorporation. ACRA advises businesses to check whether additional licences or permits are required before starting operations.

For example, regulated industries such as food and beverage, education, financial services or certain trading activities can have additional regulatory requirements. These costs are separate from the ACRA incorporation fee.

8\. Paid-Up Capital Is Not the Same as the Registration Fee

Founders sometimes mix up paid-up share capital with incorporation fees. They are different things.

Paid-up capital is the amount of share capital issued by the company and is recorded as part of the company's corporate structure. It is not a fee paid to ACRA. JWC's incorporation guidance notes that a company can generally be incorporated with a small amount of paid-up capital, such as S$1, subject to the company's circumstances and requirements.

9\. Don't Forget the Costs After Incorporation

The cost of registering a company is only the beginning. Once incorporated, a company has ongoing obligations.

ACRA's post-registration guide notes that companies must appoint a company secretary within six months and an auditor within three months unless exempt from audit requirements. Businesses should also check whether licences or permits are needed for their activities.

A Simple Example: What Might Your Budget Look Like?

Imagine a Singapore-based founder who already has an eligible resident director and a suitable registered office address. The minimum [ACRA](https://www.acra.gov.sg/register/business/registering-different-business-structures/local-company/appointing-company-directors-other-key-officers/)government filing fees would be S$315: S$15 for the name application plus S$300 for registration.

The same founder may still choose to pay for professional company secretarial, accounting or tax support. Those are service costs rather than government registration fees, and the amount depends on the provider and scope.

Now consider a foreign founder who does not have an eligible resident director and does not have a suitable Singapore registered office address. The business may need additional services, so its total incorporation budget would be higher than S$315.

What Is the Cheapest Way to Register a Company in Singapore?

If you already meet the structural requirements and are comfortable handling the filing yourself, the government fees are relatively straightforward: S$15 for the name application and S$300 for company registration.

However, the cheapest upfront option is not always the lowest-cost option over time. A filing error, missed corporate requirement or unsuitable company structure can create additional administrative work later.

For founders unfamiliar with Singapore's regulatory requirements, professional incorporation support can reduce the amount of work involved and help ensure the setup is structured correctly from the beginning.

How JWC Can Help With Company Incorporation

Setting up a company involves more than submitting an ACRA form. You need to make sure the business has the right structure, required officers, registered office arrangements and ongoing compliance support.
