Don’t Guess Your InvoiceNow Requirements. Get the Right Support.

InvoiceNow is becoming an important part of how GST-registered businesses in Singapore manage e-invoicing and GST reporting. But with phased implementation dates, different requirements depending on your business situation and questions about accounting software, it can be difficult to know exactly what you need to do.

The good news is that preparing for InvoiceNow does not have to mean figuring everything out on your own. With the right information and support, businesses can understand their requirements, check their existing setup and plan the transition more confidently.

InvoiceNow is Singapore’s nationwide e-invoicing network based on the Peppol standard. It allows businesses to send and receive invoices digitally in a structured format. Under the GST InvoiceNow Requirement, GST-registered businesses will progressively be required to submit invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions.

The requirement is being introduced progressively. New voluntary GST registrants have already entered the requirement: newly incorporated companies that voluntarily register for GST within six months of incorporation have been subject to the requirement from 1 November 2025, while businesses applying for voluntary GST registration from 1 April 2026 are also required to comply.

For remaining GST-registered businesses, the requirement is phased from 1 April 2028 to 1 April 2031. The applicable date depends on the business category and, for existing GST-registered businesses, total annual supplies used to determine the implementation phase.

Implementation Date

Businesses Covered

1 Apr 2028

New compulsory GST registrants and existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies ≤ S$200,000

1 Apr 2029

Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies ≤ S$1 million

1 Apr 2030

Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies ≤ S$4 million

1 Apr 2031

Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies > S$4 million

Your First Step: Find Out When You Need to Comply

Before changing software or rebuilding your invoicing process, first confirm when the GST InvoiceNow Requirement applies to your business. IRAS provides an implementation date calculator for GST-registered businesses, giving you a clearer starting point for planning your onboarding.

Do You Need to Replace Your Accounting Software?

Not necessarily. IRAS advises businesses using off-the-shelf accounting or finance solutions to check whether their preferred software is on IMDA’s accredited InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions list. Businesses may also consider available free-of-charge solution packages. If you use an in-house enterprise solution, you can work with an IMDA-accredited Access Point Provider to connect it to the InvoiceNow network and IRAS.

What Do You Need to Do to Get Started?

For an off-the-shelf solution, the main steps are to check whether it is InvoiceNow-ready, obtain a Peppol ID through the relevant provider or Access Point, and activate the GST InvoiceNow submission feature. For an in-house solution, engage an accredited Access Point Provider, obtain a Peppol ID, connect the solution to IRAS and activate the submission feature. IRAS notes that onboarding can take as little as three months, while most businesses complete setup within a year depending on readiness and system configuration.

What Invoice Data Needs to Be Submitted?

In general, businesses need to submit invoice data to IRAS for transactions reported in their GST return, including standard-rated, zero-rated and exempt supplies and purchases. Examples include sales invoices, tax invoices, simplified tax invoices, receipts, debit notes and credit notes. Existing GST obligations continue to apply.

Why Getting the Right Support Matters

The challenge is not simply understanding what InvoiceNow is. Businesses also need to translate the requirements into their existing accounting and invoicing processes. You may need to check your software, understand how invoice data is captured, confirm whether your solution is InvoiceNow-ready, register for a Peppol ID, activate the required feature and make sure your team understands the updated process.

There May Also Be Financial Support Available

The government has introduced transition support for InvoiceNow onboarding. IRAS currently lists a GST InvoiceNow Transition Grant of up to S1,000forSMEsanduptoS5,000 for larger businesses, subject to applicable eligibility and grant conditions. Free-of-charge InvoiceNow solution packages are also available for eligible businesses for specified periods. Always check the latest official requirements before relying on a particular grant or package.
